Work Detail Ocean Winds, a joint venture between EDP Renewables and ENGIE, has signed an agreement with Bureau Veritas Poland for the certification of the up to 500 MW BC-Wind offshore wind project. The certification will include a comprehensive assessment of the project at every stage of implementation, including design, production, installation, transport, and commissioning. The BC-Wind offshore wind farm, Ocean Winds’ first project in Poland, is proposed to be built about 23 kilometres north of the municipalities of Choczewo and Krokowa in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, across two sites. The project sites encompass an area of 90 square kilometres and a capacity of up to 500 MW. After nearly twelve months, the geophysical and geotechnical survey campaign in both the offshore wind farm area and the export cable corridor was completed in 2024. According to the project website, the developer is currently focused on selecting and contracting key suppliers for the components of the offshore wind farm, strategic planning for the service base, and finalizing geotechnical surveys on land. In September, Ocean Winds secured the environmental decision for the transmission infrastructure for its Polish offshore wind project. Issued by the Regional Director of Environmental Protection in Gdansk, the decision covers both the offshore and onshore components of the transmission infrastructure.
