Trinasolar, a global leader in smart solar products and energy solutions, joined industry leaders at PV CellTech USA 2024 in San Francisco. Brenden Frazier, product manager at Trinasolar US, delivered a presentation on new product advancements, including the new n-type TOPCon hail-resistant modules, as well as insights about Trina’s PV manufacturing facility in Wilmer, Texas.
Brenden shared Trina’s experience regarding the PV manufacturing facility’s site selection, building development, job creation, and updates on the domestic shipments coming online later this year. With 5GW of annual capacity, the 1.35-million-square-foot complex will employ over 1,300 local workers who will produce a dedicated U.S. supply of innovative, high-power n-type TOPCon and PERC cell Vertex modules to support the country’s utility-scale, commercial & industrial (C&I), and residential solar projects.
Brenden discussed the extensive research and development involved in engineering Trina’s new hail-and-wind-resistant Vertex modules and why the module’s 3.2mm tempered and backsheet design delivers the best protections. For commercial and industrial (C&I) and utility-scale solar applications, the 620W Vertex N with up to 23% efficiency is third-party tested to confirm reliability and performance, showing no defects in tests with hailstones up to 55mm at 34 m/s and 65mm at a 60-degree impact angle. For residential solar projects, the 445W Vertex S+, with up to 22.3% efficiency, is optimized for up to 5400Pa wind resistance and protections against hailstones up to 45mm. Brenden also provided details on Trina’s product portfolio and technology roadmap for the U.S. market.
“Trinasolar remains dedicated to supporting the growth of the U.S. renewable energy market,” said Trinasolar US President Steven Zhu. “Successfully supporting this growth means that it’s incredibly important for Trinasolar to join other industry thought-leaders at conferences to share our insights and learn from our colleagues and other experts.” |
