The Secretary of Public Works of the Municipality of Alberti, Bruno Scarcelli, highlighted that even in the current context where the national government decided at the beginning of its administration to stop public works financed by the Nation, "Javier Mileis government has completely broken the pace of works that we had. Last year we had around 40 works per month and today we are at 15. The effects are seen not only economically but in the non-compliance with agreements we had with the former Ministry of Infrastructure of the Nation. We had nine works financed by the national government, now they ignore us, they do not even honor the debt with the physical advances to date with certifications approved by the Nation. These are debts that they maintain and make it impossible for us to continue structural works."
In a conversation with Cuarto Político, the municipal official from Alberto Fernández indicated that "we are refurbishing the Cine Teatro Roma and with our own resources we are paying the certificates by decision of the mayor. There was already 62% progress and if we stopped it as the Milei government intended, it would be worse, because it would mean that the ceilings would fall, the plaster would get dirty and the deterioration that comes with leaving a work without continuing."
He added that "we were able to continue the restoration of the municipal palace, which was designed by engineer Francisco Salamone, with our own resources. We were able to continue with some work. We are finishing the tank that was financed by ENOHSA, the National Entity for Water and Sanitation Works - another organization that was closed by Mileis government. We are going to adapt the well so that it can be used, all with great effort from the municipality."
"Everything is thanks to the great effort of the Municipality of Alberti," the municipal official from Alberti told this digital news portal. "We are greatly affected by all the decisions that the national government is making."
AGREEMENTS WITH PROVINCE
He noted that "luckily we have structural works agreed upon with the provincial government, such as 34 blocks of pavement, of which we are starting block number 12 these days. It is essential in the district because it allows us to also develop a tool, which is construction by improvements, which will allow us to continue doing works by administration."
Under another provincial agreement, six drinking water wells are being built to supply the city of Alberti, which will allow for maintaining adequate pressure and facilitating the rotation of other wells.
"Luckily - he added - at a local level, we were able to continue everything we had been working on with the Province. What we had agreed with the Nation, we were only able to continue three times with our own resources, but with a lot of effort."
RURAL ROADS
With provincial support and the decision of Mayor Germán Lago, much emphasis was placed on the maintenance and care of rural roads, renewing road machinery and "today we have all the roads in good condition and machines working permanently. Last year we bought a backhoe to clean channels throughout the district but we are also working together with Provincial Hydraulics and Provincial Roads who made two other machines available to us, so there are three backhoes working in the district, cleaning channels for 25 kilometers and we are about to start another 25 kilometers out of a total of one hundred kilometers in the entire district, taking advantage of this period because there is a chance of significant rainfall in a short time so we must be prepared for it."
"The idea is to ensure that all agricultural producers can reach their workplaces, collecting their production in a timely manner, without any inconvenience," said Bruno Scarcelli, who also said in the interview with this digital news portal that "until last year we had consolidated more than 70 kilometers of rural roads, with granular consolidation, guaranteeing accessibility to all localities," he mentioned.
OBJECTIVES AND PROJECTS
At this time of year, municipalities begin to define the Budget for the following year and in the case of Alberti and specifically in Public Works, the head of the area considered that "it is quite difficult to predict what is co-participation, one of the main sources of financing for the municipality. Today it is in decline and it is a big problem to project. With great work carried out by the municipal economic team, with our own resources we have carried out more works this year than in other years."
"It is very good of the Municipality to find resources to undertake works such as the restoration of the municipal stadium, paths, replacement of LED lights, extension of sewers, extension of natural gas, we are making microcredits for people who could have natural gas service but cannot make their internal network. The projection is brief but there are projects for 2025 and always thinking positively and that we can find the resources," he stressed to Cuarto Político.
The Secretary of Public Works and Services of Alberti said that between now and the end of the year, together with the provincial Ministry of Habitat, "we are waiting for the advance payment to build 54 houses with their infrastructure. We are about to inaugurate a complete sewage system with a network and treatment plant in Mechita, a town shared with the district of Bragado and we were able to manage it in previous years. The work is being carried out completely throughout the town, as well as 13 houses that would be finished in November," he said.
He also mentioned that "we are about to open a tender, on the 22nd, for a tender to finish classrooms in the technical school, the construction of the Astronomical Observatory and the Roma cinema-theater are continuing, and work is being done at Middle School 2 on the expansion of the SUM. Fortunately, we are still working hard and we aim to continue generating solutions for the residents of the district," he stressed.
He highlighted “the commitment and support of Governor Axel Kicillof, which is permanent. He says that there are no first-class and second-class citizens of Buenos Aires, we feel that way and that each Alberti resident is considered as one more resident. For example, this year we will finish with sewers in one hundred percent of the entire district. Today, being able to complete the sewer system in a town of one hundred inhabitants, marks an abysmal difference with what President Milei preaches, who says that the State must cease to exist. We believe that all residents deserve to have a sewer system and develop their life in the place where they are born, generating situations of rootedness. Hand in hand with the governor, we continue working with that thought,” he stressed. |
