KLK Ventures has officially launched a new platform aimed at revolutionizing farming in Jammu and Kashmir through sustainable solar water pumps under the PM Kusum Yojana. This innovative initiative seeks to simplify the application process and enhance support and post-installation services for farmers in need of affordable, renewable energy solutions for irrigation.
The platform is designed to streamline the entire process, from the initial application to post-installation services. Farmers can now apply online, and the KLK team will oversee every stage of the process, including conducting site feasibility surveys, managing documentation, dispatching materials, supervising pump installations, and performing quality checks. To ensure long-term satisfaction, KLK will also conduct post-installation visits to assess system performance.
Under the PM Kusum Yojana, the Indian government provides an 80% subsidy on the cost of solar water pumps, allowing farmers to contribute only 20% of the total cost. As a government-empanelled partner, KLK Ventures has successfully installed over 800 solar pumps in Jammu and 500 in Kashmir, with an ambitious target of reaching a total of 3,000 pumps in Jammu and 2,500 in Kashmir. These pumps empower farmers, particularly those in remote areas, by enabling them to irrigate their fields without the reliance on diesel or electric pumps, thereby reducing costs and promoting eco-friendly farming practices.
The initiative supports farmers in regions where access to electricity is limited. Farmers can install solar-powered pumps with capacities of up to 7.5 HP, and for special regions like Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and other hilly areas, the subsidy extends to pumps with capacities of up to 10 HP, helping to further alleviate their dependence on costly diesel pumps.
Akshat Jain, CEO of KLK Ventures, stated, “The PM Kusum Yojana is a game-changer for farmers, especially in remote areas. By providing solar water pumps, we are not only helping farmers reduce their costs but also promoting the use of renewable energy in agriculture. Our aim is to complete the installation of all targeted pumps in Jammu and Kashmir, and we are proud to contribute to the government’s mission of making irrigation more accessible and affordable.”
Farmers in Jammu and Kashmir are encouraged to take advantage of this scheme to enhance their irrigation systems and reduce their reliance on traditional power sources. With solar-powered pumps, they can ensure a steady water supply for their fields, even in off-grid areas. |
