Prozeal Green Energy has secured a significant contract for a 25 MW solar PV project combined with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Ladakh, after winning a tender from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The project, located in Taru, Leh, includes a 25 MW (AC) solar installation with a peak capacity of 50 MWp, along with a 20 MW/50 MWh battery storage system. Prozeal’s successful bid amounts to ?3.13 billion.
The project funding is divided into three key areas: ?2.2 billion for the plant and essential spare parts, ?583.2 million for freight, design, civil, and installation services, and ?280.5 million for operation and maintenance (O&M).
The tender, issued in April 2024, stipulates that only solar modules from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Approved List for Models and Manufacturers can be used. Additionally, the entire production process for crystalline silicon technology must occur in Indian manufacturing facilities.
This project represents a major step forward in enhancing renewable energy infrastructure in the challenging landscape of Ladakh. By integrating solar power generation with energy storage, it will improve energy security in this remote region. The extensive battery storage system is designed to address the intermittency of solar energy, ensuring a more reliable power supply for local communities. |
