Work Detail |
German transmission system operator (TSO) Amprion has selected TÜV SÜD as the Owner’s Engineer to supervise the construction of the converter platforms for the BorWin4 and the DolWin4 offshore grid connection systems.
The contract covers overseeing the fabrication of the platforms’ individual components at several locations worldwide, such as supervision of the fabrication of large components at the Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany.
TÜV SÜD will also be responsible for the supervision of the assembly of the platforms at Dragados Offshore in Cadiz, Spain, and the supervision of the commissioning of the platforms on the high seas.
The official start of fabrication for DolWin4 was on 2 July at Dragados Offshore in Cadiz and on 4 July at the Meyer Werft in Papenburg.
The German TSO placed the main orders in 2022, with Siemens Energy and Dragados Offshore selected to supply the converter platform and Prysmian to deliver the submarine cables. The same suppliers have been selected for the BorWin4 grid connection.
The platforms for both offshore grid connection projects will be installed by Allseas in the North Sea, with the installation work planned to commence in 2027.
Both offshore grid connection projects are scheduled to go into operation in 2028. |
