Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced recently that the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (UPMRCL) has awarded it a contract for the design and construction of Agra Metro Phase 1, Line-2. The project is expected to cost between ?1,000 and ?2,500 crore and will be managed by L&Ts Heavy Civil Infrastructure division.
S.V. Desai, Whole-time Director and Senior Executive Vice President (Infrastructure) at L&T, stated, “L&T remains at the forefront of urban infrastructure development and is committed to modernizing India’s metro networks in line with its strategic goals. This project will leverage L&T’s extensive expertise in engineering and high-quality execution.”
According to the press release, the metro line will extend from Kalindi Vihar to Agra Cantonment, featuring a significant 15.09-kilometer elevated viaduct. The project will also include the construction of 14 stations and a 2.61-kilometer depot, encompassing mechanical and electrical work, as well as architectural finishes for the stations. The project aims to enhance urban mobility and connectivity in Agra. |
