Work Detail The Chinese PV manufacturer said its new series of modules have a power conversion efficiency of up to 24.8% and the temperature coefficient is -0.26% per ºC. Chinese solar module manufacturer Longi has unveiled its latest solar modules at a press event at the ATP Masters in Shanghai. The Hi-Mo X10 module series is based on Longi’s proprietary 2nd generation Hybrid Passivated Back Contact Cell (HPBC2.0) technology and has a power conversion efficiency of up to 24.8%. The modules are available in four versions with power outputs of up to 665 W, measuring 2,382 mm x 1,134 mm x 30 mm and weighing 33.5 kg. Their temperature coefficient is -0.26% per ºC. The new products come with a 15-year product warranty and a 30-year linear power warranty. The modules are designed for an annual linear degradation rate of 0.35% over 30 years, capped at 1.0% in the first year. According to the manufacturer, these new panels have a 1% higher efficiency than their predecessors. They are manufactured using 182 mm TaiRay n-type wafers, considered a major advancement in silicon technology. These wafers reportedly improve resistance consistency, minimize metallic impurities, and provide superior mechanical strength. The new products incorporate Longi’s HPBC2.0 technology, which features a unique bypass diode structure that allows blocked current to be independently diverted when encountering shade, resulting in more than 70% lower power loss than traditional TOPCon products, according to the manufacturer. It also purportedly mitigates hot-spot temperatures in shaded conditions, reducing overheating by more than 28% compared to conventional modules. Another feature is the busbarless (0BB) design, which eliminates busbars and grid lines on both the front and back of the panel. This design maximizes light absorption at the front and improves reflected light capture efficiency at the back. At the event, Longi also announced that shipments of its HPBC products have exceeded 20GW by the end of the first half of 2024 and that the capacity of HPBC2.0 modules will be expanded to 50GW by the end of 2025.
