Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated several key infrastructure projects in the Narsala-Hudkeshwar area on Sunday, including a sewage line, a sewage treatment plant, and road development initiatives. The total investment for these projects amounts to ?150 crore, with ?115.46 crore allocated for the sewage infrastructure under the Centres Amrit Yojana 2.0 and ?35 crore for the road project.
During the foundation-laying ceremony, Fadnavis highlighted the significant urban growth in the Nagpur metropolis and the surrounding Hudkeshwar-Narsala region over the past decade. He emphasized the need for improved infrastructure, stating, "Roads and drinking water facilities were a must. During my tenure as chief minister, I resolved the water issue of the area on priority."
The Deputy Chief Minister stressed the importance of proper sewage systems in addressing environmental concerns and health challenges. He noted that the Pohra River, which has deteriorated due to pollution, would be revitalized once the sewage disposal project is completed. "The sewage disposal project will solve environmental issues, and after the project is completed, it will again become a clean river," Fadnavis said.
Fadnavis also criticized the previous Uddhav Thackeray-led government for failing to secure funding for such essential projects. He asserted that upon returning to power, the current government fast-tracked the sewage and wastewater management initiatives to compensate for lost time. The total administrative sanction for the wastewater collection system in the Hudkeshwar-Narsala area is ?957 crore, with funding contributions from the Centre, the state, and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).
The project aims to develop a comprehensive wastewater collection system, replacing outdated sewer lines with a new network spanning 164.9 kilometers. The NMC has assured that this initiative will significantly improve public health and alleviate pollution in the region, ultimately benefiting local residents. Completion of the project is expected within two years. |
