Work Detail | The first of two major flood mitigation projects begins today near Garden of the Gods. The $9 million project will help protect Garden of the Gods Park, Rock Ledge Ranch and downstream neighborhoods from flash flooding and erosion. It could also remove 120 properties out of a 100-year floodplain. Crews will start work on channel stabilization today, and early next year will begin work on phase 2 of the project, a permanent stormwater detention and sedimentation pond. The channel work is expected to be finished sometime in November. The construction work will not impact traffic near Garden of the Gods Park and the Foothills Trail will stay open throughout construction. |
