Work Detail In Lithuania, the construction of the Rail Baltica embankment, engineering structures and local roads has been extended along a new 17.1 km section. LTG Infra, the company implementing the project in Lithuania, has signed a contract for the first part of the Šeta-Ramygala section. The main contractor, the Czech company Eurovia CZ a.s., and its partner Eurovia Lietuva AB, will carry out the work amounting to almost EUR 98 million (excl. VAT). Rail Baltica is under construction in the active sections in Jonava district. The work on the first 17.1 km of the Šeta-Ramygala section will extend the 29.2 km of construction already underway towards Panevežys. “The progress of the Rail Baltica project is of strategic importance for Lithuania and the Baltic region, and the progress of the construction of the European rail line towards Panevežys is indeed a very welcome and much anticipated news. It is of particular importance for us, both to connect the Baltic countries as soon as possible to the common European rail network and for military mobility objectives,” said Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Loreta Maskalioviene. According to Egidijus Lazauskas, CEO of LTG Group, Eurovia’s long-standing experience in road construction provides confidence in the contractor’s ability to implement a project of international importance. “We look forward to successful cooperation in this stage of Rail Baltica development, ensuring smooth implementation of the project and long-term value for the region. Each additional section of the contract extends the infrastructure that is vital for us to achieve a more integrated, sustainable, and competitive future for Lithuania and the Baltic region,” said Egidijus Lazauskas. In total, 65.2 km of Rail Baltica in Lithuania will be under construction at the beginning of next year. “The procurement for the construction of the 18.9 km section is also in its final stage, and we are planning to launch the procurement for another 12.1 km section soon. Both LTG Infra and the Rail Baltica project team are actively working to expand the geography of works in Lithuania,” said Vytis Žalimas, CEO of LTG Infra. Eurovia Lietuva has already carried out work on the Rail Baltica project in the past, building 16 access roads and 2 service roads alongside the future high-speed railway to provide local connections and access to the railway – a total of 18.3 km of new roads. Arturas Prichodka, CEO of Eurovia Lietuva, appreciated the continued cooperation with LTG Infra in the construction of the project of national importance. “We are commencing preparatory work and are eager to start on site. We have set ourselves the highest standards of quality, health and safety and environmental protection for this project. Today, we are starting much more than just building a railway. Together we are creating something that will provide new opportunities for Lithuania,” said Arturas Prichodka. Eurovia CZ, with extensive experience in railway construction projects, will be the main contractor for the Šeta-Ramygala project. “We are fully prepared to successfully implement this phase of Rail Baltica construction. Our aim is to ensure that both the public and the client are satisfied with the progress of this strategically important project,” emphasized Julius Šimkevicius, Head of Eurovia CZ’s Lithuanian branch. The 17.1 km section is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. The work is planned to be financed by the European Union and the Lithuanian state budget.
