Drinking water is one of the most important measures for public health.
Drinking water is one of the most important measures for public health.
In the midst of the States downsizing plan, the Government will move forward with the closure of another agency. This is the National Water and Sanitation Works Agency (Enohsa). What were its functions?
The Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, confirmed tonight that they are working on the elimination of the area that is within the structure of his own portfolio, within the scope of the Secretariat of Public Works. "It is a den of corruption," he denounced.
Enohsa was created in 1995 during the government of Carlos Menem. According to information on its website, “it is responsible for planning, executing and managing water and sanitation infrastructure works throughout the country, while also controlling the quality of drinking water and sanitation services.”
The organizations objective is to "provide technical and financial assistance, as well as promote research and technological development in the water and sanitation sector," in addition to disseminating "information on the importance of safe drinking water and sanitation, and training personnel in the field of water and sanitation infrastructure."
According to the minister, in an interview with LN+ tonight, the State currently has a Sub-secretariat for Water Services that would perform the same functions. "It was created in 1995 to carry out one or two works, but then they found a way around it...", he said. And he defined the entity as a "coffer" for politics.
"There were 184 projects in the Undersecretariat of Water Services. There were almost 1,500 in Enohsa," he continued. He added: "The projects are centralized there because it is much more difficult to audit them.
The Government will move forward with the closure and restructuring of organizations
The closure of Enohsa comes days after the Government confirmed last Thursday that it will move forward with new closures and restructuring in the State. As Ámbito anticipated, the Executive Branch will dissolve the company of Valores Sudamericana, known as the former Ciccone, and will restructure the Casa de la Moneda.
The information was confirmed by presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni at his press conference at Casa Rosada. The spokesman defined the institution as “a state printing press with severe inefficiencies that is responsible for printing banknotes, passports, car license plates and stamps.”
After confirming the news, Adorni said that for the moment he does not have further details on how many people will be laid off in the process of restructuring the mint, which the spokesman defined as "the last nail in the coffin of inflation."
Days ago, after confirming the dissolution of Trenes Argentinos Capital Humano (DECAHF), the Government announced that “at least four or five other state-owned companies will be closed” according to a high-ranking official source to Ámbito. At that time it was learned that among the main ones was the Casa de la Moneda, in charge of printing legal tender bills and coins in Argentina. |
