Procurement News Notice

PNN 79186
Work Detail X-Elio, a Spanish renewables company, has received government approval for a 350 MW solar site in Queensland. The Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) approved the permit. The solar plant will have 579,660 PV panels, which will provide enough electricity for 160,000 homes annually and offset around 650,000 tons of CO2 emissions. The Sixteen Mile solar farm will also include a co-located 120 MW/240 MWh battery, installed 22m south of Chinchilla municipality. The land reserved for the BESS had previously been cleared for cattle grazing and cropping. Commissioning is expected to take place in Q4 of 2026 and provide around 300 jobs. X-Elio has three active solar and storage projects in Australia to date, in varying stages of development and construction.
