With 104 projects underway and a projection of 451 new works, the provincial administration is moving forward with strategic infrastructures without financial support from the Nation.
The province of Neuquén is going through a period of reactivation of public works, with the execution of 104 projects and the completion of 42 in the first 10 months of Governor Rolando Figueroas administration. Despite the lack of funding by the national government, the province continues to advance in key works that cover areas such as Education, Health, Security, Sanitation and Energy, with the aim of improving the quality of life of the people of Neuquén and balancing development throughout the territory.
The provincial infrastructure plan responds to the demand generated by regionalization, which seeks to meet the needs of each locality. In addition, the execution of 451 new works is projected in the next three years, prioritizing projects that were already advanced and those that cover urgent needs in essential sectors such as housing, health and energy.

Despite provincial efforts, the lack of funding from the Nation has left an infrastructure deficit that Neuquén has been dragging for more than a decade. Figueroa explained that when he took over the governorship, they found almost 400 works paralyzed and underfunded, which implied a great deal of renegotiation work to reactivate them. “We had to renegotiate because the State was paying more than the rest, which impoverished the province,” he said.
The province implemented a review and renegotiation process under Provincial Decree 23/2024, prioritizing strategic works that were stalled due to contractual or financing problems. In addition, the approval of Law 3432 on the Reactivation of Public Works in April provided the necessary tools to adjust contracts and launch the most urgent works.

Among the works in progress, there are 98 Water and Sanitation projects, 88 Electric Energy, 31 Health, 82 linked to Education, and 188 destined for housing. However, the delay in payments and the lack of agreements with the national government also affected large-scale works, such as the case of the Alipiba project, which would have allowed Villa La Angostura to be connected to the national energy network.
Figueroa stressed that the lack of investment in energy-related works by the current and previous governments has had a negative economic impact on the province. “The connectivity work between Villa La Angostura and the route to Bariloche has been completed for eight years, but due to the unfulfilled promises of the Nation, we continue to face multimillion-dollar costs,” he added.

Over the next three years, the province of Neuquén plans to carry out 451 new works, with an investment of more than 2 billion dollars. This plan was designed based on the needs of each municipality and development commission, in order to guarantee a balanced territorial development and meet the infrastructure demands of the communities.
