State-owned oil company Ecopetrol has inaugurated the 56 MWp La Cira Infantas photovoltaic plant, located in Barrancabermeja, Santander department, which will allow it to cover 14% of energy demand.
According to the company, the plant, which deploys 84,900 solar panels on fixed structures across 53 hectares, will be able to produce up to 76.3 GWh.
It has also been revealed that 380 jobs were created during its construction, most of them from the El Centro district, where the facility is already located.
According to Ecopetrol President Ricardo Roa Barragán, this project joins the Castilla, San Fernando and Brisas solar plants, each with 26 MWp , in the municipality of Aipe (Huila). "By the end of 2024, in addition to the Solar Farm at the Cartagena Refinery in the department of Bolívar, we will have three smaller solar farms in operation in the transportation segment," he said.
The solar plant located at the Cartagena Refinery will complete 22.1 MW of installed capacity .
In August 2022, Ecopetrol announced the start of construction of the first photovoltaic farm for the archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, in the Caribbean Sea, which will have an installed capacity of 1.8 MWp and a 2.5 MW storage system . |
