Work Detail Transformative Canadian infrastructure projects, ranging from those newly opened to others who have been successfully serving their communities for several years, are vying for top honours at this year’s National Awards for Innovation and Excellence in Public-Private Partnerships. Project nominees are located in Alberta, Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, the Northwest Territories and Quebec. “This may be the most diverse range of assets, project locations and stages of project life cycles of Canadian P3 projects we’ve ever had nominated in the almost 30 years we’ve hosted the national awards program,” said Lisa Mitchell, president and CEO of The Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships (CCPPP). “That’s why this year, in particular, is so exciting. Each of the project nominees is delivering valuable services to Canadian communities illustrating the long-term collaboration and innovation that drives P3s.” The P3 National Awards Gala Luncheon, hosted by Brad Nicpon, Chair of the Awards Selection Committee and Partner, McCarthy Tétrault LLP, is taking place in downtown Toronto on Tuesday, November 5 — the final day of P3 2024, Canada’s Infrastructure Conference. Winners will be announced on stage in front of an anticipated crowd of up to a thousand delegates. The 2024 awards are supported by AECOM, EllisDon and McCarthy Tétrault LLP. Created in 1998 by The Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships (CCPPP), the awards celebrate and recognize Canada’s cutting-edge infrastructure projects involving public sector entities like governments and educational institutions partnering with the private sector. Last year, the awards committee retooled the project award categories to better reflect the changing dynamics of Canada’s P3 infrastructure pipeline and to highlight the need to create better, more resilient and longer lasting infrastructure for our communities. This included added categories recognizing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and P3 Service Delivery.
