JSW Cement has successfully commissioned an additional two million tonnes per annum (MTPA) capacity at its Vijayanagar plant in Karnataka, following a ?461 crore investment. This expansion boosts the total capacity of the plant to 6 MTPA, contributing to an overall installed grinding capacity of 20.6 MTPA for the company.
The expansion at the Vijayanagar facility is part of JSW Cement’s larger strategy to invest in both brownfield and greenfield projects across northern and central India, with proposed units in states such as Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. The Vijayanagar plant is strategically located alongside JSW Steel’s manufacturing facility, allowing for operational synergies, particularly in sourcing raw materials like blast furnace slag. This enables the production of eco-friendly cement and cementitious products.
The recent capacity addition aligns with JSW Cement’s goal to increase its overall grinding capacity to 40.85 MTPA in the near future. Nilesh Narwekar, CEO of JSW Cement, highlighted the company’s commitment to using advanced technologies and leveraging synergies with JSW Steel to produce “Green Cement” that caters to the growing demand while minimizing environmental impact.
JSW Cements growth plan also focuses on enhancing logistics and raw material sourcing efficiencies through JSW Infrastructure’s port operations and its extensive limestone reserves in various regions. |
