Following the call for tenders, work will begin to connect Route 3 in a 1,000-metre stretch around these two urban centres. This will reduce the presence of dust that generates complaints from residents.
The paving will be carried out on Salta and Brasil streets, which will benefit the La Casona and El Palomar neighborhoods. It is expected to improve traffic.
The Municipality of Cañuelas awarded a new asphalt work on Salta and Brasil streets, which will benefit the La Casona and El Palomar neighborhoods. The public tender (No. 6/2024), called at the end of August, received proposals from two companies: GT Construcciones, which submitted a bid of 1,004 million pesos, and Grupo Constructora SA, with a proposal of 1,017 million. Finally, GT Construcciones was selected by submitting the lowest bid.
According to reports, the project includes paving a 620-meter stretch on Salta Street and another 350-meter stretch on Brasil Street, forming an “L” connection and
two points on Route 3, close to the aforementioned neighborhoods and Dr. Salvador Egittos house.
The project is part of a flexible pavement program, funded by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services of the Province of Buenos Aires, with an approved budget of 851,228,626 pesos.
The project will include the construction of a 20 cm limestone base, followed by another 15 cm base and a 7 cm thick asphalt layer approximately 6 meters wide.
In addition, the tender includes the provision and installation of 40 cm pipes for street crossings and vehicle entrances. However, since it is not a continuous conduit, levelling or a hydraulic study has not been planned. This construction system has been used in various asphalt works tendered in Cañuelas since 2022.
Official sources indicated that funding for this project was requested to consolidate two secondary accesses to Cañuelas, especially Salta Street, which is heavily used by trucks.
On the other hand, the asphalt will reduce the presence of dust, which generates so many complaints among residents of the area, both from the buildings on Mandela Street and on the other side of the railway tracks.
