The envelopes for the tendering of the works have been opened, and they will begin within an estimated period of 30 days.
The mayor of La Plata, Julio Alak, headed the opening of envelopes for the bidding process for the renovation works of the shopping centers on 8th and 12th streets, which will require a total investment of $740 million, will have a two-month execution period and will benefit more than two thousand businesses in the city.
The event took place in the White Hall of the Municipal Palace and was attended by local authorities. The enhancement of these spaces, which the Municipality will carry out, will allow local commerce to be promoted and economic activity to be strengthened, as well as increasing security and accessibility in the spaces.
Following the opening of the envelopes, the start of the work is expected to take approximately 30 days and the execution will take an estimated two months, with completion expected before the end of the year.
According to reports, the work will include patching asphalt, replacing tiles, cleaning and rebuilding subfloors, restoring urban equipment, cleaning vandalized walls and applying anti-graffiti paint, as well as the intervention of the storm drain network and the lighting system, among other tasks.
THE DETAILS OF THE WORKS
The 8th Street shopping center will require an investment of $390 million and will include the enhancement of the 8th Street shopping center and a perpendicular section on 51st Avenue, having a development of 9 blocks.
On the one hand, the sidewalks of Calle 8 from Calle 45 to Avenida 51 in both directions will be worked on; in addition, restoration work will be carried out on Avenida 51 between Avenida 7 and Calle 10, only in an ascending direction.
On the other hand, the renovation of the 12th Street shopping center involves an investment of $350 million and will span 10 blocks, starting at the corner of 12th and 54th and ending at 64th Street, a section in which work will be done on both sidewalks.
The restoration of both spaces includes the replacement of limestone and porphyry tiles, the cleaning and reconstruction of subfloors, the replacement of loose or missing limestone and porphyry tiles or areas where there is a different flooring; the provision and replacement of missing or damaged grating slabs.
The project also includes the restoration of existing equipment such as benches and flower pots, while waste bins will be replaced with new models and existing bicycle racks on the sidewalks will be dismantled and put into storage.
In another order, the frames of the bowls will be reconstructed with reinforced concrete cord and Sabias Pallidas will be planted next to the existing trees in the flowerbeds so that they expand.
As for the façades, those that were vandalized will be cleaned and then painted with anti-graffiti paint as a final finish. The existing water fountains on the axis of Av. 51 to Calle 12 will also be restored, repaired and put into operation.
The project also includes asphalt patching, reconstruction of the sections of the road with porphyry, maintenance and cleaning of the storm drain network, and maintenance of the lighting system, including repainting and restoration of all lighting columns, traffic light columns and public service cabinets located on the sidewalks.
Finally, the construction of parking areas for motorcycles is planned, dividing the area into sections with demarcation, a safety barrier, delimiting flowerpots and indicator signs. In addition, all existing illegal advertising signs will be removed, both on facades and on sidewalks.
