Work Detail With an investment of almost $800 million, Mayor Juan Pablo Poletti headed the tender to carry out these tasks over the next few months. Two companies submitted their proposals for the cleaning of open-air canals and one budgeted for the unclogging of piped drains. As has been the case since 2008 and in order to reduce the water risk caused by heavy rains, Mayor Juan Pablo Poletti and the Secretary of Urban Development and Water Management, Felipe Franco, headed the opening of envelopes for public tenders to contract maintenance work on piped storm drains up to 1.60 meters in diameter and also open-air channels. In this regard, after the tender, Franco said: “These tasks are being carried out to continue maintaining the cleanliness of all the citys drains and to carry out a much more thorough cleaning of the system. Now comes the awarding process, and I estimate that we will be in a position to begin the work in October and the execution period for these contracts is five months. So we are tackling the interventions in the spring and summer.” Before closing, he referred to garbage and the awareness of citizens to keep the water system in good condition. “We must continue maintaining the cleaning process but we also need the support of society in terms of removing waste in a timely manner and in such a way that it does not remain on the public road for a long time; and at the same time, deepen the awareness of waste separation in order to also have lower costs for garbage collection but at the same time also a lower impact on the drains.” Proposals and tasks These are essential tasks to keep the provincial capitals urban drainage network in optimal condition. The total amount provided in the official budget for the two works is $798,225,800. First, the envelopes were opened for the tender for the open-air unlined main channels, which, due to their large characteristics, must be worked on with crawler excavators; and also with a backhoe with an extendable arm. The official amount to carry out these tasks is $399,940,200, and two offers were submitted to carry them out: Coivalsa SA, which offered $343,916,649.60; and the UTE made up of Alamco SA and Winkelmann SRL, which quoted the work at $359,455,932.80. In order to guarantee the drainage from the mouth of the conduits downstream, the cleaning, weeding and/or rectification of the channels is planned, which has the task of removing vegetation, waste and any other object that is in the channel and could obstruct the normal flow of water. On the other hand, the tender for the cleaning and maintenance of piped drains had an official budget of $398,285,600. The tasks consist of achieving the optimal functioning of the drainage network through water sanitation in different areas of the city that are currently vulnerable to meteorological events due to problems of accumulation and permanence of water due to the lack of capture of surface runoff. For this call, a company was presented: Emsade SA, which proposed to carry out the tasks for an amount of $418,199,880.
