Work Detail The national governments project includes the reactivation of public works, which have been paralyzed since the libertarian government came to power. What it does and does not foresee for Mendoza. The dual carriageway to San Juan, one of the works included in Mileis budget With an extensive parliamentary debate on the horizon, this week the 2025 Budget bill, presented days ago by Javier Milei in Congress, will begin to be discussed, and the governors will be at the forefront of negotiations when it comes to obtaining the votes that the ruling party requires for its approval. In addition to the focus on fiscal balance, the first income and expenditure guidelines of the libertarian government promise - in principle - the reactivation of public works in the provinces, practically paralyzed since the arrival of the economist to the national head of state. The cut that Javier Milei is asking the provinces to make is impossible to comply with . However, in the last meeting held by the Chief of Staff Guillermo Francos and the Minister of Economy Luis Caputo with the provincial leaders, there were already complaints from the jurisdictions for non-compliance (as provided for in the text of the file) with the agreements signed for the financing of infrastructure works in their territories. Budget 2025: what works are planned in Mendoza in Mileis project In the sections dedicated specifically to Mendoza, the funding items for the completion of a series of works included in the agreement signed between Alfredo Cornejo and Francos himself in June are detailed, although there are some absences without notice. Although a new meeting between the two officials is expected in Buenos Aires to fine-tune the numbers and clear up any doubts, the Government House has noted the lack of budget allocated to projects that the provincial administration considers key. Those that are included Mendoza/San Juan dual carriageway: this is the one with the largest allocation in the budget project (8.197 million pesos). This is one of the works that has always been postponed in the Province and has been announced by different governments. It has a physical progress of 53.98% and has been paralyzed for some time. The works are being carried out along 18 kilometers, between the Access to El Plumerillo Airport and the intersection with Provincial Route 34, and consist of the duplication of the main roadway, with collectors and roundabout-type interchanges. In addition, the construction of the Paso Hondo Provincial Route 23, San Ramón and El Pastal bridges and an interchange bridge on Provincial Route 34 Lavalle is contemplated. Palmira – Agrelo variant: it has a progress of 86.30% and only some minor works remain. However, it has been practically paralyzed since 2022. The Budget provides funds for 7,662 million pesos. The work extends along 36.5 kilometers and has two 7.30 meter wide roads with two lanes in each direction of traffic, shoulders and a central curb. Its progress is significant throughout the section: 16 of the 20 bridges that were projected are already finished, as well as the asphalt layer in both directions in a total of 17 kilometers of the section in question. For its part, the central curb of the highway and the retaining walls are finished in 32 kilometers of the 36.5, which means a progress of around 90% for both works. The Palmira Variant will significantly reduce heavy traffic on the South Access to Mendoza and on the East Access The Palmira Variant will significantly reduce heavy traffic on the South Access to Mendoza and on the East Access Collapsed bridges on Route 40 in the Uco Valley: collapsed in 2020 as a result of the strong storm, they have not yet been rebuilt and since then the area has been used as a bypass. The budget allocates $800 million. In this case, the physical progress of the works is 25% and consists of the new construction of the two bridges that collapsed, the construction of three "buried" containment dams (one for each dry river), the protection of the four standing bridges and the protection of the abutments of the six bridges, new sub-wall dams and concrete side walls to protect the existing bridges. National Route 40, Tunuyán-Luján de Cuyo section, section III of Provincial Route 96-Anchoris (beginning of Section II): this is the continuation of the double lane on the national highway to the intersection with 96 in Tupungato. In this case, funds totalling 2.278 billion pesos were allocated. Improved maintenance of National Route 146 (San Luis/Mendoza – Monte Comán border): the work is 95% complete and the national executive has allocated 40 million pesos for its completion. The tasks included patching, micro-asphalt agglomeration and a 4-millimetre thick surface treatment of the roadway over a distance of more than 100 kilometres. Other works budgeted for Mendoza: infrastructure adaptation of the Mining and Manufacturing Complex of San Rafael ($80 million), remodeling of the Early Childhood Center (EPI) "Dulce Espera" in Tunuyán ($24 million), construction of Casa Amor in the Province of Mendoza ($37 million); in addition to $900 million for different maintenance, repair and road safety programs. Those not included: Cristo Redentor System-RN 7 (Las Cuevas-International border with Chile-Caracoles Tunnel-phase 1): is the comprehensive refurbishment of the Cristo Redentor System Pass, which in phase 1 includes the expansion of the Caracoles tunnel and the construction of interconnection galleries. The megaproject foresees multimillion-dollar investments on both the Argentine and Chilean sides, with the participation of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), in order to improve border vehicular circulation, and separate cargo transport from private transport. This route has minimal progress and the work is paralyzed. San Rafaels "Gas Andes" gas pipeline: its progress is over 90% and the failure to send funds from the Nation was brought to court by the San Rafael municipality, which already had a favorable ruling in the first instance. The work, which will benefit 30 thousand homes in the south of the province, also has a national commitment to complete it. However, no budget funds were allocated for it. Water and sanitation works: the Francos/Cornejo agreement of June included six works of this nature that the Nation would finance in Mendoza, through the National Entity for Water and Sanitation Works (ENOHSA). The budget project does not detail the work planned in provincial territory, but it does detail that more than $4.1 billion will be allocated for infrastructure. Among the works that could be carried out with these funds are: – Expansion of the Balloffet water treatment plant, San Rafael. – Colonia Segovia-Paramillo collector, first stage, Guaymallén. – Piedmonte Norte-Las Heras drinking water production and supply system. – Expansion of the Cuadro Nacional treatment plant, San Rafael. – Renewal of the Southwest sewage collector, first stage. Elpidio González section, Guaymallén. – Comprehensive sewage effluent collection and treatment system for the city of Malargüe. Source: https://www.sitioandino.com.ar/
