Eight bids were submitted for the “mega-project” to expand the city’s sewers
The “mega-project” will reach the neighborhoods of Santa Rosa, Malvinas Argentinas, Villa Casey and San Vicente, so that 90 percent of the city has sewage service. “There are 1,249 connections that are estimated to reach 14 thousand residents, with more than 25 thousand meters of pipes,” said the official, adding that three pumping stations will be built in the Santa Rosa and Villa Casey neighborhoods and in the Plaza del Docente, strengthening the Ángel Lozano station that will be reinforced. “All this to reach the treatment lagoons that will be refurbished and expanded.”

The work
The project includes the expansion of sewage networks in the Malvinas Argentinas and Santa Rosa neighborhoods, the construction of three new pumping stations that will allow the connection and expansion of networks in the Villa Casey and San Vicente neighborhoods. In turn, the flows that were supplied to the Ángel Lozano pumping station will be relieved. Regarding this last existing pumping station, the work includes improvements and repowering of it.
In addition, the corresponding impulse pipes are included to connect the pumping stations with existing sewage networks and a new connection to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The execution period is 18 months and the Cooperativa de Obras Sanitarias (Sanitary Works Cooperative) is supporting the development of the works.
