According to data from the General Superintendency of Electricity and Telecommunications (Siget), solar energy represented 21.1% of total installed capacity in 2023. The General Superintendence of Electricity and Telecommunications (Siget) has released the data on installed capacity for 2023, which highlights that photovoltaic power accounts for 21.1% of the total, very close to the 21.2% of hydroelectric power. Specifically, of the total installed capacity of 2,997.69 MW, photovoltaic power accounts for the aforementioned percentage with 633.10 MW, while hydroelectric power has 638.06 MW. If all renewable sources are added together, Siget data reveals a coverage of 61.5%, which should include technologies such as geothermal and biomass, both of which have a large presence, plus wind power and biogas. Meanwhile, power plants that run on fossil fuels such as bunker and liquefied natural gas (LNG) covered 38.6%. |
