Malaysian offshore vessel owner Centus Marine has returned to Singapore-based shipbuilder Strategic Marine for a newbuild described as the next generation of fast crew suppliers.
The new personnel transfer vessel, developed in partnership with AIRCAT Vessels will be designed to achieve speeds exceeding 50 knots while ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers during transit, Strategic Marine said.
“The vessel’s capabilities are tailored to boost operational efficiency for offshore oil and gas platforms, where quick and reliable crew transfers are critical to efficient operations.”
The newbuild will feature an advanced lift system that allows it to achieve minimum draft on water, substantially reducing hull resistance whilst travelling at high speeds and also has an automated system controlling the air cushion that dynamically adjusts to sea conditions, the shipbuilder explained.
Centus Marine has ordered multiple offshore support vessels at Strategic Marine in the past and the latest move is said to reinforce the importance of sustainable and high-performance solutions in Malaysia’s growing offshore industry.
“We believe this vessel will play a groundbreaking role in enhancing our operations and sustainability efforts and providing our clients with safe, innovative and cost-effective solutions,” said Derick Soo, general manager of Centus Marine. |
