Box has announced the launch of a new service called Relay designed to allow customers to manage entire projects from a single software location, including approving invoices and signing off on reports. The service contains many functions that Box said are all about reducing the complexity of managing projects, such as making it easier to add new users to projects and define their access levels without having to involve IT. This also includes the ability to share certain information with outside vendors and partners, based on Box''s pre-existing sharing functions, and see required tasks or requests from other users Chris Yeh, senior vice president of product and platform at Box, explained that customers were crying out for better services as most existing software is not fit for purpose. We’ve heard it from our customers: most workflow tools in the market today are expensive, cumbersome and fragmented. That’s why so many people still rely on ad hoc, manual solutions like email, spreadsheets and task software, he said in a blog post. Technology shouldn’t slow your business down, it should help you move faster and achieve more. IBM, a firm that has supplied business software for decades, welcomed the move by Box into this area, claiming that the two have been able to bring the best of both firms'' expertise to the table. “This first joint solution from IBM and Box enables businesses to create a simpler digital workflow across different functions to reduce the time spent managing projects and boost team productivity, said Inhi Cho Suh, general manager of collaboration solutions at IBM Analytics. This is possible by combining the power of IBM Cloud with Box’s leading content management platform.” Relay is just the latest addition to Box''s offerings as the company moves further from its origins in cloud storage and becomes a fully-fleged enterprise shop, as witnessed by its recent acquisition of data analytics company Wagon Analytics. |
