The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded its latest Toll, Operate, and Transfer (TOT) bundle for ?6,661 crore, as announced on Friday. The contract, TOT Bundle-16, covers a 251 km stretch on the Hyderabad-Nagpur corridor of NH-44 in Telangana and has been awarded to Highway Infrastructure Trust.
The financial bids for the project were opened on September 18, 2024. Under the TOT model, the concessionaire will manage and operate the stretch for 20 years, collecting and retaining user fees according to National Highway Fee Rules. This model encourages private sector participation in highway management and maintenance.
NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav highlighted the success of the TOT model, noting that it has been key in monetizing and developing Indias national highway network. “The TOT has been instrumental in unlocking the value of the road network and has contributed immensely to the development of highways,” he said.
In FY24, NHAI awarded four TOT bundles worth ?15,968 crore, surpassing its annual monetisation target of ?10,000 crore. The TOT initiative saw a 100% success rate, reflecting strong interest from bidders.
NHAI’s total asset monetisation programme has now exceeded ?1 lakh crore, with ?48,995 crore raised through TOT contracts, ?25,900 crore via InvITs, and ?42,000 crore through securitisation, contributing significantly to the national monetisation goals. |
