The Province of Buenos Aires announced that it will move forward with the bidding process to carry out stormwater drainage works in the center of Pilar.
This is a tender launched by the Ministry of Public Works and Services and has an investment base of 7 billion pesos.
The works aim to “organize urban storm drains to allow the drainage of excess rainwater into the Agustoni Canal” within the framework of a project that has a planned deadline for the execution of the work of 360 consecutive days.
Currently, drainage is carried out on the surface in most sections, but the objective is for the drains to run underground.
The announcement of the call for tenders was made by the Minister of Government of Buenos Aires, Carlos Bianco, who stressed that "unlike the national government, we believe that public works are extremely necessary to solve deficiencies that the Province still has."
"We are aware of the needs of the people of Buenos Aires and the mandate we have been given to continue with public works in our province. Unlike the Nation, which thinks that it is an expense and a source of corruption, we think that it is a need and a right of the people of Buenos Aires," said Bianco.
The work
The proposed works consist of two main conduits that carry water from two sub-basins to the junction with National Route 8 (Pan-American Highway) and flow into Branch 1 of the Agustoni Canal Piping Project.
Each of these underground trunk conduits cross Provincial Routes No. 8 and No. 25 on Ituzaingó and Uruguay streets, which is why they were called Ituzaingó Trunk and Uruguay Trunk, although their connection to Branch 1 is given, for the Ituzaingó Trunk at the intersection of Brasil and Sargento Cabral streets, while the Uruguay Trunk joins Branch 1 at the intersection of Brasil and Uruguay streets.
Both projects have several branches, 8 for the project along Ituzaingó Street and 3 for the project along Uruguay Street.
