Work Detail Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investor’s Meet and Expo (RE-INVEST) at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The three-day summit celebrates India’s achievement of over 200 GW of installed non-fossil fuel capacity and showcases innovations in renewable energy from public and private sectors. During his address, PM Modi welcomed dignitaries and expressed hope for fruitful discussions on energy, technology, and policies over the next three days. He stated that the knowledge gained from the summit would benefit not only India but all of humanity. Highlighting the historic achievement of being elected for a third term, the Prime Minister attributed his government’s re-election to the aspirations of 140 crore Indian citizens. He emphasized the government’s commitment to making India the world’s third-largest economy, and noted that the first 100 days of the government’s new term have focused on developing both physical and social infrastructure. Infrastructure and Green Energy Initiatives In his speech, PM Modi detailed several initiatives undertaken in the first 100 days, including the construction of 7 crore homes and approval of 12 new industrial cities. He also mentioned key transportation projects, including 8 high-speed road corridors and more than 15 semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains. Additionally, a ?1 trillion research fund has been established to drive innovation, and new policies have been introduced to promote electric mobility, biomanufacturing, and clean energy. The Prime Minister also highlighted efforts in the renewable energy sector, including a viability gap funding scheme worth ?7,000 crore for offshore wind energy projects. He added that India is aiming to generate 31,000 megawatts of hydropower in the near future. India’s Commitment to Renewable Energy and Climate Goals PM Modi reaffirmed India’s goal to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030. He underscored India’s leadership in climate action, noting that it was the first G20 nation to meet the climate commitments of the Paris Agreement, nine years ahead of schedule. He stated that the transition to green energy has become a people’s movement in India, and the country is on a mission to integrate solar power into every household through the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. More than 1.3 crore families have registered under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, with 3.25 lakh installations already completed. Modi explained that a typical family that generates 100 units of solar power per month and sells it back to the grid could save ?25,000 annually, which could grow to over ?10 lakh when invested in a Public Provident Fund over 20 years. Ayodhya to Become Model Solar City PM Modi highlighted plans to transform Ayodhya into a “model solar city” as part of India’s larger solar revolution. He noted that many homes and public facilities in Ayodhya are already using solar power, with plans to scale up the use of solar streetlights, boats, water ATMs, and more. He added that 17 cities across India are being developed as solar cities, with plans to convert agricultural fields into solar power generators through initiatives like solar pumps for irrigation. Job Creation and Environmental Impact The PM Surya Ghar scheme is not only helping the environment but also generating employment, with 20 lakh jobs expected to be created. Modi mentioned that 3 lakh youth will be trained as skilled workers in the solar industry, including 1 lakh as Solar PV Technicians. Every 3 kilowatts of solar electricity generated will prevent the emission of 50-60 tonnes of carbon dioxide, according to PM Modi, who praised the contributions of Indian families to combating climate change. India’s Role in Global Green Transition PM Modi reiterated India’s ambition to become a global leader in green hydrogen, with the recent launch of the Green Hydrogen Mission worth ?20,000 crore. He also discussed efforts to promote waste-to-energy projects and address challenges related to critical minerals through a circular economy approach. Concluding his address, PM Modi invited global investors to take advantage of the tremendous opportunities in India’s renewable energy and manufacturing sectors, emphasizing that India is committed to providing a “Made in India” solution to the world’s energy challenges. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Prahlad Joshi, along with the chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Goa.
