The Siwêdan water station was officially opened during a ceremony attended by the co-chairs of the Deir ez-Zor Canton Municipalities Union, along with local residents and community leaders from Siwêdan village.
During the event, Mihemed El Mêzar, director of the Deir ez-Zor Western Rural Municipalities Union, praised the efforts that led to the station’s opening. Maher El Elawî, co-chair of the Deir ez-Zor Canton Municipalities Union, addressed the challenges in the region, particularly the attacks on service institutions like water stations, stressing that the main obstacle to advancing these facilities is the lack of reliable electricity. He also expressed gratitude to the relevant authorities and the people of Siwêdan for their support.
According to project managers, the station is equipped with 332 solar panels generating 620 watts of solar power, along with a 90-kilowatt dynamo and a generator. The station is expected to operate for 12 to 13 hours daily, supplying drinking water to the local population. |
