Procurement News Notice

PNN 76599
Work Detail The manufacturer has launched a campaign in Brazil focused on Latin America and the Caribbean, where it is facing the offer of cheap photovoltaic modules that do not offer the energy they promise. “Installers and end users do not really realise that this type of product does not offer the same quality. This means that they are buying a completely different product, because they are only guided by the price,” says the companys Marketing and Communications Manager in the region, Maria Muñoz. TrinaSolar wants to raise public awareness about the differences between the various photovoltaic modules offered on the solar energy market. As part of Intersolar South America 2024, the manufacturer launched the “Knowledge is Power” campaign for Brazil, South America, the Caribbean region and Mexico. “In all regions we are experiencing the same problem: hundreds of competitors in the market offering the ‘same product’. I want to emphasize this point because it is not actually the same product, of course,” says the company’s Marketing and Communications Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, María Muñoz. “They have lower prices because they don’t have the same track record in building a product as we do, so it is totally understandable that they are cheaper. But what happens is that installers and end users don’t realize that this type of product does not offer the same quality. That means they are buying a completely different product, because they are only guided by price,” she adds. To protect installers from irregular purchases of solar modules, particularly in Brazil, it is essential to take certain precautions, Muñoz adds. «Make sure the product has certifications, such as the INMETRO seal, and choose reliable suppliers with a solid track record. Consult qualified professionals to assess the quality of the panels and demand solid guarantees and complete documentation. Be wary of prices that are significantly lower than the market average and stay up to date with industry regulations. This way, you can ensure the safety and efficiency of your solar energy investment,» he recommends. The strategy of the “Knowledge is Power” campaign is to inform installers and distributors about the differences between modules in terms of performance, durability and warranty compared to “generic” modules. Among the planned actions is the collection of testimonials, success stories and concrete data on the performance and durability of TrinaSolar modules in the Brazilian market. The company will also offer training and tools for installers. This scenario is not new, but it has intensified. The campaign launched in August has been planned for a year, says the executive. The idea, he adds, is to counteract the so-called “false power” – something like “false capacity” – of photovoltaic modules that do not have as much technology on board or that do not control all the links in the chain with the concept of “real power” of Trina Solar modules.
