Colombian company Erco Energy has announced that it will implement a 6.9 MWh battery storage system at the La Martina solar park, with a 14.7 MW installed capacity, which it is developing between the Colombian departments of Cundinamarca and Meta. The statement said the storage system will be the first of its kind in the country and will be made up of lithium cells, "complemented by a liquid cooling system, as well as intelligent monitoring and control systems." The report also adds that the aforementioned system "allows the solar project to generate up to 2,200 additional MWh per year." The La Martina solar park, already in its final stage of construction, is located in the municipality of Paratebueno, and deploys 25,452 solar modules. The company says it plans to reach around 1.6 GWh in installed batteries by 2030, an estimated 30% share of the Colombian market. As regards photovoltaic installations, Erco Energy estimates that by the end of this year it will have 2,179 projects and an installed capacity of 265.6 MWp, of which 189.45 MWp correspond to the Utility Scale sector, "equivalent to 71.3% of the total capacity installed by the company."
