Governor Alberto Weretilneck presented today a Provincial Plan aimed at the acquisition of plots and the construction of housing. “We can no longer depend on national policies” he stated, before a large audience in the Gray Room of the Government House, where he signed 32 agreements with municipalities, development commissions and intermediate entities.
The objective is to reactivate projects under the provincial programs “Habitar”, “Casa Propia” and “Suelo Urbano”. With an investment of more than 5 billion pesos from the IPPV, the plan includes the construction of 169 homes, housing improvements, a Multipurpose Hall and infrastructure works for 246 lots.
The president stressed the need for effective planning and the urgency of resolving strategic projects quickly to meet the needs of the new generations. “Where am I going to live? How am I going to live? What am I going to live on?” were the three fundamental demands he outlined.
The Provincial Development Plan aims to provide clear answers to these questions. “We can no longer rely on national policies. We have to design, finance and implement our own housing solutions,” Weretilneck stressed on the need for a robust local housing policy.
He also addressed the importance of improving access to land and urban planning. “With the recent amendment to the Land Law, we are going to speed up the normalization of land and facilitate urban expansion in our municipalities,” he said.
Finally, he stressed the importance of comprehensive planning to face future challenges. “The expansion of the port of San Antonio and projects such as Vaca Muerta Sur will require thorough and rapid preparation,” he stressed, adding that, as an organization, it is crucial to integrate and promote initiatives that strengthen collaboration between the political, business and union leadership of the province.
“We are working together to unite our efforts and effectively face these challenges,” concluded the governor, emphasizing the need for unity to ensure the success of the projects and the development of Río Negro.
The Minister of Public Works and Services, Alejandro Echarren, the IPPV intervener, Mariano Lavin, and the head of the Juntos Somos Río Negro block, Facundo López, were present. Also present were mayors, development commissioners, provincial legislators, control bodies, various provincial and municipal authorities, councilors, construction companies, civil institutions, construction workers, media, and neighbors.
