A unit of U.S.-based Tigo Energy has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Zhejiang Benyi New Energy in the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, alleging infringement of its rapid shutdown technology.
Tigo Energy, a California-based provider of energy and solar software solutions, has sued a Chinese company for alleged patent infringement.
Tigo Energys Chinese subsidiary, Tigo Energy Equipment Trading (Suzhou) Co. Ltd., filed the infringement lawsuit against Zhejiang Benyi New Energy Co. Ltd. with the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court on August 21.
Tigo Energy alleges that Zhejiang Benyi New Energy has infringed Chinese patent No. 200880114564.0, which covers its quick disconnect technology. This safety feature of photovoltaic systems reduces the risk of electric shock to emergency crews.
Tigo Energy claims to have more than 150 patents granted or pending on its module-level power electronics (MLPE) and quick-disconnect technology. The company says in a statement that it actively licenses its patented technology to other solar equipment suppliers and has won multiple patent litigation cases.
Earlier this year, Tigo Energy announced a new line of MLPE designed for commercial, industrial and utility solar projects. |
