The Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) has taken another step in the process of awarding renewable energy projects for a total of 166 MW.
The Costa Rican Institute of Electricity (ICE) has announced the signing of the commitment letters for the five solar projects, totaling 86 MW, and the four wind projects, for 80 MW, that will be built in the province of Guanacaste, for a total of 166 MW.
The company is expected to begin operations between 2026 and 2027, the statement said.
The awards, it adds, "are the result of the selection processes of calls No. 04-2023 and No. 05-2023", which were pending formalization with the letter of commitment, "a legal requirement for contracts, in accordance with the model included in the Terms of Reference", it is described.
The information highlights that "among the requirements to sign the contracts and begin construction, companies must have the acceptance of the Feasibility Report (issued by ICE), the Environmental Feasibility Declaration (by SETENA), the Public Generation Services Concession (issued by ARESEP) and the connection contract."
Regarding solar projects, as already announced last April , the agreed price for each one has been set at 0.05626 dollars/kWh.
The awarded projects, installed capacity and companies are:
Numu, 20 MW, Cover Energy
Los Tecales, 20 MW, Solar Generation South
Colorado, 16 MW, Energova
Los Mangos, 10 MW, Sunfly Investments
