The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) announced it has signed preliminary agreements with SJVN and GMR Energy to advance the 900 MW Upper Karnali hydroelectric project in Nepal. This significant step aims to bolster regional energy security by expanding renewable energy infrastructure.
Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman and Managing Director of IREDA, emphasized the strategic importance of this initiative. “Our involvement in the Upper Karnali project highlights IREDA’s commitment to pushing the frontiers of renewable energy,” Das stated. “This partnership not only accelerates hydropower development in Nepal but also fosters regional energy collaboration, aligning with our goal of promoting sustainable development.”
