Vedanta Aluminium, India’s leading aluminium producer and the world’s largest aluminium wire rod manufacturer, has introduced two innovative products at PowerEdge 2024, a key event in the power and transmission sector. The showcased products include the AL59 Ingot, known for its superior electrical conductivity, ideal for remelting, and the Electrical Conductor (EC) grade Wire Rod, designed for winding strip applications, offering a balance of strength, conductivity, workability, and formability.
These products, engineered for precision use, are optimized for fine drawing, conforming, and enamelling in transformer and motor winding applications. PowerEdge 2024 provided a platform for industry leaders, experts, and policymakers to discuss the future of the power sector and the role of aluminium in its evolution. The event also highlighted new collaboration opportunities within the sector.
India’s electricity demand saw a 7% increase in 2023, with projections indicating a 6% average annual growth rate through 2026. To support this rising demand, efficient and robust infrastructure is essential. Vedanta Aluminium’s new wire rods are poised to play a critical role in enhancing efficiency and sustainability within the energy sector.

Vedanta Aluminium boasts a wire rod production capacity of 650 kilo tonnes (KT) and provides a diverse range of high-quality EC-grade wire rods, alloy wire rods, and flip coils. These products are manufactured with state-of-the-art technology from Southwire (USA) and Continuus-Properzi (Italy), establishing Vedanta as the largest wire rod producer globally, outside of China. The company’s products are distributed to over 60 countries, demonstrating their high quality and global demand.
Furthermore, Vedanta Aluminium’s Restora and Restora Ultra product ranges, produced using renewable energy and recovered aluminium, have some of the lowest carbon footprints globally. The company has achieved certification for its product range as per Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) International standards.The company continues to focus on a ‘customer-first’ approach, with its Customer Technical Services team developing products tailored to specific needs. Vedanta Aluminium has also launched the world’s largest e-superstore, Vedanta Metal Bazaar, offering over 750 primary aluminium products with AI-based features for a streamlined purchasing experience.
