The City Government has opened a tender to expand the emergency room at the Pirovano Hospital, which has been much requested by patients. It includes three stages, both in patient rooms and offices.
Pirovano Hospital is the reference health center for Communes 12 and 13, and its Programmatic Area extends to some 500 thousand people. Added to this are those who come from neighboring municipalities of Greater Buenos Aires to seek care, which causes a collapse in the Guard. For this reason, there have been requests for its expansion for some time, an issue that had consensus but lacked political decision.
Finally, the City Government opened a request for tender to carry out this long-awaited work. Everything was formalized in Public Tender No. 401-0012-LPU24, dated this Tuesday, April 23, in a resolution issued by the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health. It describes the steps for the "Extension of the Emergency Room at the Dr. Ignacio Pirovano General Acute Hospital," reports the newspaper Comuna 12.
An initial budget of $2,201,494,626.17 is available for this, with a term of execution of 390 days, which is equivalent to a little more than a year. The process should be quick: the envelopes will be opened on May 3, and a technical visit to the health center at 3555 Monroe Avenue is planned.
The resolution establishes the work in three stages, in order not to alter the already highly demanded guard. Fundamentally, the tasks will be concentrated in the current Guard Pavilion, located at one end of the entrance on Monroe Avenue, meters from the underpass, the medical gas room and the Bar area, currently inactive.
The tender is for "civil works and all the installations," the document states. The gas room will be expanded, and another area will be created on the roof of the bar, which will be transformed into a new observation room. There will be nursing areas, medical reports, a chat room and a boardroom.
A new emergency staircase will also be installed to connect the bedrooms of the doctors who cover the shift, on the First Floor. In turn, the office of the Head of Sector will be moved to the First Floor and the critical areas will be completely redesigned, including the shock room and the room for critical patients.
Of the total 322 square meters to be worked on, 244 will undergo a complete remodeling, while 78 will be an extension. In total, with the remodeling, there will be 13 beds (8 for intermediate care, 4 for intensive care and 1 for patients who must be isolated).
The expansion of the Pirovano Hospital Emergency Room is one of the most requested issues by the 12th Advisory Council in its Health Commission, and various community members had proposed it during the campaign.
