In this regard, the mayor thanked the companies and construction personnel, highlighting that “they were always present in difficult times,” while reassuring the sector by pointing out that “all the tenders that came from previous years will be renegotiated and redirected, because they are the ones who shouldered the burden and supported the continuity of public works.” He praised the joint work by giving the example of the Belgrano Court, “where an urban development was taking shape and it had to be organized. They started working on the measurement, which is essential, and the neighbors, the leaders, the companies, the technical officials supported this.” While in relation to the work in the Máximo Abásolo neighborhood, he stated that “the technical area was asked to give priority to this work, an important action because they are the ones who are in contact with the people. These gas works are very important and we will continue to do them.” For his part, the Secretary of Infrastructure, Luis Romero, explained that “reaching this moment, with these gas works, is very important. Above all, after going through a critical path of measuring the land, the executive project, an approval from ENERGAS, dealing with some paperwork, executing the work, in a very different country structure.” However, he stressed that “the Municipality continues to provide answers, showing its face and fulfilling the commitments assumed in terms of works.” In turn, the councilor, Ariel Montenegro, stressed that "these are important works, essential for the city, that is why I want to thank the mayor because these issues dignify the residents of different neighborhoods, who for so many years were without gas service. In addition, -he continued-, we hope that the larger works will be reactivated so that they provide work for our colleagues in Construction. At the same time, on behalf of the Secretary General of UOCRA, he added that if necessary they will accompany the mayor in negotiations with the Nation. Concrete responses to the needs of residents In this context, the president of the Vecinal de barrio Máximo Abásolo, Roberto Varela, said that “we continue working together, with a project to expand the Eva Perón Gas network, which will benefit 110 families and we have to start over with the survey because we were scammed and thanks to the willingness of the mayor, who will give us a big hand in this, we will be able to do it.” Regarding the change in life that it means for the beneficiaries to be able to have gas, he said that “these people will no longer have to worry about buying firewood and paying so much for electricity.” Meanwhile, María Mansilla from the Cordón Forestal neighborhood, stressed that “we want to thank everyone who accompanied us in this process. After having worked so many years to make this happen, today we are extremely happy,” she said, thanking the mayor for the opportunity to have the project. Road Works In another context, when asked about road works for the city, the mayor explained that "we know that the works today give us an image that is not good, like the Camino Ara San Juan or Route 3, which is deteriorated and without a maintenance contract. However, we must say that we cannot provide the money from the Municipal State, because we would be embezzling public funds, so we are waiting for the national authorities to decide if they are going to fix it or activate the agreement we had to maintain it, giving us the resources for that purpose. Regarding the Ara San Juan, he reported that a meeting was held two weeks ago with Public Works and the Port Authority, to begin to make the executive project of the coastal defense rock armoring work, which is what should have been done from the beginning, according to the engineers, in order to then do all the civil work. “That is to say, that –he indicated-, first we have to do the coastal defense, which the Province decided to take charge of, and in this framework they set the Ara San Juan as a priority, which is very good news,” he emphasized.
