During the event, Cococcioni highlighted that the work “is part of a prison public works program that aims to generate prison places to end the problem of prisoners in police stations and generate conditions to house inmates of different levels of danger; and provide complementary services that increase the security levels in existing places.”

Characteristics of the works
For logistical and security reasons, the work will be divided into two stages: the first consists of the construction of Sector B, where the new control and search of visitors and the waiting area will be located. Once it is ready for operation, construction of Sector A can begin, which includes the dismantling and demolition of an existing sector and the intervention of the current search control building in order to enable it to be searched by the penitentiary staff who work there, also including a waiting area that is combined with that of Sector B.
The plan is to build a building with the same characteristics as the existing one as a continuation of it on the other side of the vehicle entrance, and to unify the image of both towards the exterior with a single gallery-shaped building.
