Work Detail | Two new Danube River bridge crossings are being proposed. There are plans in hand to construct two new bridges spanning the Danube River. One would link Romania with Bulgaria while the other would be in Hungary. The Hungarian Government is already budgeting €1.03 billion for a new bridge located close to Mohács. The link would require two viaducts passing over floodplains as well as a 756m bridge over the river itself. In addition to the bridge itself, the project also includes building 10km of connecting roads with two lanes in either direction and 20km of connecting roads with one lane in either direction. The elegant arched bridge that will span the Danube River has been designed by Gábor Pál. Meanwhile, plans are being drawn up for a new bridge spanning the River Danube to link Giurgiu in Romania to Ruse in Bulgaria. A contract for the feasibility study into the project will be the first step towards its construction. The plans for the project have been proposed by the Romanian National Road Agency (CNAIR). |
