The Bolivian National Strategic Public Company for Lithium Deposits (YLB) announces that companies from these countries have qualified for their mineral processing proposals to be studied in greater detail.
The Bolivian National Strategic Public Company of Lithium Deposits (YLB) has announced that the companies CBC (China), Protecno (Italy), Eramet (France) and Eau Lithium (Australia) obtained the highest score in terms of technological maturity, within the second international call for “Expressions of interest on the development of projects and technology for the use of evaporite resources”.
According to a statement, the companies mentioned have qualified due to their “level of technological maturity, as well as their financial proposal, technical parameters and project execution time.”
The report adds that "of the four firms, three have proven systems that are successfully operating in a real environment, and one is applying a complete and qualified system in an operational environment."
For proposals by company, CBC “presented a project for the extraction of lithium from residual brine using the adsorption method.”
For its part, Protecno "proposed the treatment of wastewater from the current plants, in addition to the treatment of water for the service of nearby populations and the treatment of well water."
In the case of Eramet and Eau Lithium, both “submitted proposals for Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) from well brine.”
This international call for proposals was launched in January of this year.
Bolivia is promoting the industrialization of lithium with two technologies, EDL technology and evaporation technology. In the first case, lithium carbonate recovery rates reach between 80% and 90%; while evaporation technology can recover between 30% and 40% of the resources from salt flats. |
