Firm to design monopile and jacket foundations for OWPL consortium
Ramboll has secured a contract for FEED design services for the 2GW West of Orkney wind farm project developed by Offshore Wind Power Limited (OWPL), a consortium of Corio, TotalEnergies, and RIDG.
During the process, blueprints will be developed for both monopile and jacket foundation options.
Ramboll will provide all needed technical information such as the total steel quantities, identification and mitigation of risks to be as low as reasonably possible and technical design requirements to help the consortium select the preferred foundation type.
It will also support OWPL with identifying potential supply chain options for the fabrication of the fixed-bottom foundations and preparing CAPEX estimations for fabrication.
Global executive director for wind at Ramboll Tim Fischer said: "We are delighted to have been selected again by OWPL for this exciting project building on our extensive experience designing monopile and jacket projects in Scottish waters.
"We look forward to continuing our good collaboration with the client through this FEED phase for the West of Orkney wind farm."
The project is being developed approximately 30km off Orkneys western shoreline and 25km away from the northern coast of Sutherland.
The depths at the planned locations vary up to 70 metres.
The wind farm is anticipated to begin generating electricity by 2030. |
