The Minister of State Deregulation stated this at a luncheon of the Fundación Mediterránea. He supported the presidential veto of the retirement law. “The attitude of Congress was childish,” he said.
Anchored as one of the central axes of the reduction of public spending, the elimination of public works is a decision that the Government plans to maintain permanently. “Public works will not return,” said the Minister of State Deregulation, Federico Stuzenegger, before an audience of businessmen convened by the Fundación Mediterránea.
To justify the unclear handling of the funds allocated for this purpose, Sturzenegger gave as an example that there was a loan from multilateral organizations for USD 1,000 million “to build sewers. Did the State need that? There was a group of officials who were selling the works to the municipalities and provinces. Thus, public works were a mechanism of corruption and political subjugation. It took a decision to eliminate all that in one go. And Javier Milei did it.”
Sturzenegger highlighted the Presidents intensity and obsession with fiscal balance. "And I worked with Mingo," he said in relation to the former Minister of Economy Cavallo, honorary president of the Fundación Mediterránea, who was listening to him from the main table. He also highlighted the fact that he publicly praises ministers, something unusual in presidents, and in particular, "the ideological coherence" of the cabinet he put together.
To illustrate the depth of the current fiscal adjustment, Sturzenegger pointed out that in a survey that covered 200 countries around the world in the last 70 years, there were only 34 cases of spending being cut by 30% in one year. “All of these cases were from countries that went through a war. The only case of a president who has achieved an adjustment of that magnitude without that situation is Javier Milei. And he did it with the conviction that every peso that the state spends more is always paid for by the private sector.”
The official said that “the best way to promote economic activity is to reduce public spending and have a balanced budget. Minister Caputo and President Milei achieved all of this in one month. Unbelievable. Nobody would have believed it if we were talking about this in November of last year.”
"Do you think that (Eduardo) Belliboni woke up one day and said Im not going to picket Javier anymore? No, thats not the case. It was the courage of Minister Sandra Pettovello who dared to deactivate that bomb. And that gave us back the freedom to move around the country," he said.
