SBL Energy, a prominent manufacturer of mining and industrial explosives, has established a 3,000-tonne-per-annum TNT production plant on a 225-acre site at Yenvera in Nagpur. This move is aimed at boosting domestic TNT production, reducing import dependence, and enhancing supply security and cost efficiency, particularly in the defence sector.
The new facility is expected to strengthen SBL Energy’s order book and revenue, driven by rising demand from industries such as infrastructure, mining, and defence. Earlier this year, the company raised ?325 crore in growth capital from marquee investors to support its expansion efforts.
Sanjay Choudhari, Chairman of SBL Energy, highlighted that the plant will help meet the growing demand for explosives, fueled by increased industrialisation, infrastructure development, and mining activities. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with the government’s mission to promote self-reliance in defence manufacturing and boost indigenous production and exports.
In addition to supporting the production of various munitions, including bombs and artillery shells, the plant will contribute to modernizing existing arsenals with more advanced and reliable explosives. |
