Abinash Mishra, Commissioner of Raipur Municipal Corporation and Managing Director of Raipur Smart City Limited, has voiced strong dissatisfaction over the sluggish progress of three crucial Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) being developed under Raipur Smart City Limited. The STPs in question are a 3 MLD unit at Maharajbandh Pond and 1-1 MLD units at Naraiyya Pond and Kho-Kho Pond.
Residents living near these ponds, who rely on them for essential daily activities like bathing and washing clothes, have been grappling with unsanitary conditions due to accumulated drainage water. In some cases, people have even consumed the contaminated water. In response, Mishra has mandated an accelerated completion of the STPs.
The Commissioner has instructed that the STP projects be completed by the end of October, with trials scheduled for November and full operation expected to begin in December. Mishra has issued a stern warning to the contracted agency, M/s Samriddhi Water Works, to expedite the construction or face stringent action.
During a review meeting, Mishra also emphasized the need for constant monitoring of other critical projects in the city, such as the 24x7 water supply project, Shastri Market, and Mutton Market. He stressed that these projects must be completed on schedule, maintaining both quality and public convenience.
The review meeting was attended by key officials, including Smart City COO Ujjwal Porwal, General Manager Technical Pankaj Kumar Panchayati, and Additional General Manager Technical Imran Khan. |
