Work Detail DUBAL Extrusion Investment (DEI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of DUBAL Holding (DH), has successfully finished the initial phase of a rooftop solar power project at OSE Industries, an aluminum extrusion firm also owned by DEI. This initiative reinforces DEI’s dedication to sustainability and aligns with the UAE’s renewable energy objectives. The rooftop solar installation, carried out by Emirates Electrical Engineering LLC, became operational in early July and is installed on the rooftops of buildings 1 and 2 at the OSE plant. The system, which has a rated capacity of 633 kilowatts peak (kWp), is expected to produce 1.1 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean electricity annually, fulfilling up to 12% of OSE Industries’ yearly electricity requirements. Environmentally, the project’s 1.1 GWh annual output is sufficient to power a small town for several days or up to a week, reducing carbon emissions by 440,000 kilograms of CO2 equivalent and promoting sustainable practices. The second phase of the project, which will expand the solar coverage to the remaining buildings and service areas, is scheduled for completion in 2025. This initiative is part of DEI’s ongoing commitment to advancing the UAE’s sustainability efforts, including supporting the DEWA SHAMS Dubai Initiative, the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and the UAE Net Zero 2050 goals. The project is executed under a Solar Lease Agreement, which avoids upfront costs and provides a streamlined approach to operation and maintenance, along with affordable energy rates. The supplier is responsible for overseeing the system’s performance, ensuring its cleanliness, and maintaining availability of spare parts. Initial data from July 2024 indicates that the solar system generated 109.5 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity, meeting 12% of the monthly demand and contributing to a reduction of 43,800 kilograms of CO2 equivalent. The rooftop solar power project highlights DEI’s commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible business practices. As the UAE continues to focus on renewable energy, DEI is well-positioned to support this significant transition and contribute to a sustainable future for the nation.
