Work Detail | Company said it will prioritise early-stage project portfolio in offshore wind Equinor has confirmed that the companys renewables arm is stepping away from offshore wind markets in Spain and Portugal. A company spokesperson said: "The offshore wind industry is facing significant headwinds, and we must make prioritisations to make sure we are competitive through the downturn. "The decisions are made as part of Equinor’s prioritisation of the early-stage project portfolio investments." The Norwegian developers head of renewables Pål Eitrheim (pictured) told Reuters earlier this week it may also consider withdrawing from other markets. It follows confirmation that Equinor will step back from offshore wind plans in Vietnam following a recent review of its global renewables portfolio. According to Reuters, the developer has cited the need for a "disciplined approach" amid "significant headwinds" bracing the offshore wind market. |
