Work Detail |
Local authorities received great news for the town in recent days. Finally, and after many doubts about its continuity, the sewage works will be reactivated after the provincial government signed the decree and will send 80 million pesos to the municipality for the purchase of the property, near the Fifth Meridian, where the effluent treatment plant will be installed. It is one of the national works in La Pampa that was awarded during the previous administration (of Alberto Fernández) and will continue its progress in the government of Javier Milei.
The project, which was managed in 2020 by former mayor Ricardo Delfino (Frejupa) before the national government and was put out to tender at the beginning of last year, will be managed by the National Entity for Water and Sanitation Works (Enohsa). At the time of the tender, it had a budget of 1,714,269,855 pesos and an execution period of about 30 months, and will be financed with funds from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through the PROAS II program (Drinking Water and Sanitation Program for smaller communities). The company Indhal SRL was awarded the contract and is in charge of the works. The sanitary network will cover about 146 blocks and will have a pumping station and a treatment plant.
"Governor Sergio Ziliotto has once again fulfilled his promise to the town of Catriló, which he made during my administration to contribute 80,000,000 euros for the purchase of the hectares where the sewage treatment plant will be located," Delfino said yesterday.
"This work, long awaited and longed for by the residents, is essential to improve the quality of life of all Catrilenses. It was thought out and developed by the entire team of my administration... and it was achieved under a Peronist government after many promises from some leaders that were never fulfilled," he added. Finally, he also thanked the former Minister of Public Works of the Nation, Gabriel Katopodis "for having promised and fulfilled it" and Néstor Alvarez, former deputy director of Enohsa, "for being attentive to every detail."
Decree.
In the last Official Gazette of the Province, through a decree signed by Governor Sergio Ziliotto, the General Accounting Office was authorized "to transfer to the Municipality of Catriló the sum of 80,000,000 pesos, in nine consecutive monthly installments, destined for the acquisition of land for the installation of a treatment plant within the framework of the project for the construction of the sewage system in the town."
Mayor Graciela López said she was "very happy and grateful" for the provincial contribution. In an interview with this newspaper, she explained that the work is "6 percent complete," because the company in charge of the work placed the pipes that go from the land where the treatment plant will be located to the vicinity of the railroad tracks, near the urban area.
"What was delaying the continuation of the work was that there was a commitment to sell the property that was due in 2022," he explained. He pointed out that as soon as he assumed the municipal administration in December 2023, he took care of the procedures with the provincial government to obtain the funds and thus acquire the land, since it was not contemplated in the work awarded by the national government.
The contributions from the Province "will be made in nine installments and we have already received three," confirmed the head of the municipality. "Tomorrow (today) we are travelling with the municipal lawyer to Trenque Lauquen to close this agreement (with the owner of the land) for the purchase and in this way allow the company to enter the place where the pools are going to be built."
Details.
On the one hand, the work will involve the installation of the sewage network covering an area of ??146 hectares, with a final coverage, at the design period, of 7,048 inhabitants, and the construction of a pumping and pumping station.
And, on the other hand, a treatment plant, which will be located on a property adjacent to the Fifth Meridian, designed as a two-stage process: the first consists of a stabilization pond system, composed of two trains of ponds in series, the first of a facultative type and the next of maturation. Meanwhile, the second involves a final disinfection before discharge into the receiving body. Each train will have the capacity to treat 50% of the total demand.
