Work Detail BP and Aberdeen Council JV to develop solar-power generated green fuel facility AECOM has been appointed to be owner’s engineer for the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub. The Hub is being delivered by BP Aberdeen Hydrogen Energy Limited (BPAHEL), a JV between Aberdeen City Council and BP. The first phase involving building a green hydrogen production facility powered by a solar farm and a refueling facility for buses and trucks. Eloise John, director of energy, UK & Ireland, AECOM, said: "We are delighted to be helping provide critical infrastructure in support of Aberdeen’s investment journey in low-carbon transportation, as part of its net-zero ambitions. "Through this contract with BPAHEL, we are supporting the growth of a new generation of green skilled workers and helping to transition local jobs and supply chains to ensure the city is ready to take full advantage of the global energy transition and the economic opportunities it will bring to Aberdeen and the wider region." AECOM has built a bespoke team for this project which will involve managing all interfaces between the four works contractors, leading the safety in design activities and compliance with CDM regulations together with ensuring that all planning and licence conditions are appropriately discharged. In delivering these roles, AECOM will lead and co-ordinate all external stakeholder communications necessary to deliver the project. This follows successfully taking the project through planning permission, and providing the design integration for the project prior to the final investment decision (FID) being taken.
