In a move to bolster the UAE’s sustainable energy goals, Yellow Door Energy (YDE) and Clyde Engineering have successfully launched a 1.2 megawatt-peak solar power system across the RITAJ residential community in Dubai Investments Park. The project is a significant step towards the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Target and 2050 Clean Energy Strategy, reflecting a commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy. The newly inaugurated solar power system, installed on the rooftops of nine residential buildings, features over 2,000 solar panels. These panels are projected to produce 1.9 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity within the first year of operation, meeting 30% of the energy consumption needs for the buildings. This is equivalent to a reduction of 756,000 kilograms in carbon emissions annually. The project, financed under a solar lease agreement, allows Al Mujama, the leading Owners Association managing the RITAJ community, to achieve significant cost savings without requiring capital investment.

The project is a significant component of TotalEnergies’ $27 billion energy program in Iraq. The project will be executed by China Energy Engineering Tianjin Electric Power Construction, International Group, and Southwest Institute, with construction set to begin later this year. The project is slated for completion by early 2027. The scope of work includes the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the PV power station and a 132 kV booster station. The solar PV independent power project (IPP) is one of the key elements of the $27 billion deal between TotalEnergies and the Iraqi government. The other major projects within the agreement include a facility for treating associated natural gas from five southern oil fields—West Qurna 2, Majnoon, Artawi (Ratawi), Tuba, and Luhais—a $4 billion common seawater supply project, and the development of the Artawi oil field.
China Energy Engineering Secures $972M EPC Contract For 2-GW Haden Solar Plant In Saudi Arabia
China Energy Engineering has secured an EPC contract valued at approximately USD 972 million (EUR 889.2 million) for the development of the 2-GW Haden solar photovoltaic (PV) facility in western Saudi Arabia. The agreement was finalized between a China Energy Engineering-led consortium and a joint venture that includes Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund PIF, Riyadh-based developer ACWA Power, and Saudi Aramco. The announcement was made in a stock market filing on Wednesday. Situated around 70 km (43.5 miles) northeast of Taif City in Mecca Province, the project is scheduled for completion within 31 months. Once operational, the Haden solar plant is projected to contribute approximately 6,355,382 MWh of electricity annually to the Saudi power grid.

Qatar General Electricity And Water Corporation Launches BeSolar Service To Promote Distributed Solar Energy In Qatar
The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) has unveiled its new BeSolar service, designed to support the installation of distributed solar energy systems across various properties. This initiative aligns with the Qatar National Renewable Energy Strategy and aims to enhance the use of renewable solar energy while offering economic benefits to customers. The BeSolar service encourages residents and businesses to install solar energy systems in homes, farms, factories, and other properties. As part of this initiative, KAHRAMAA has introduced a distributed solar energy policy and a net billing program. Under this program, any excess electricity generated by solar panels can be fed back into the grid. A bidirectional meter measures this surplus, and KAHRAMAA will credit the value of the surplus electricity against the customer’s next bill, leading to reduced future energy costs.
Saudi Power Procurement Company Chooses Assystem Radicon For Renewable Energy Studies
Assystem Radicon is excited to announce that the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) has selected it as a partner for conducting pre-development studies for renewable energy parks in Saudi Arabia. This collaboration is formalized under a 3-year Framework Consultancy Agreement for Technical IPP pre-development services. Assystem Radicon looks forward to a successful project and is eager to explore future opportunities with SPPC. This partnership aligns with the Kingdom’s broader goals of advancing its renewable energy sector. Additionally, it underscores Assystem Radicon’s commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s transition to sustainable energy solutions. Jordan Announces Customs Duty Waivers For Solar, Wind, And Geothermal Energy Technologies
Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Kharabsheh, has unveiled a new tax exemption system for renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, which was approved by the Cabinet on Monday. This system, effective from the date of publication in the Official Gazette, will exempt these technologies from customs duties and impose a zero rate for general sales tax. The new policy includes exemptions for several key areas. Electrical energy storage systems generated from renewable sources, along with associated charging regulators, will be exempt. Concentrated solar power (CSP) systems for steam production, energy audit services, and inputs for bioenergy and geothermal energy systems will also benefit from the new exemptions. Dr. Kharabsheh highlighted that the system continues to support existing exemptions for solar panels, inverters, solar collectors, and direct water heating pipes, without requiring further approval from the Exemptions Committee.
Saudi Arabia’s $1 Trillion Investment Plan Focuses On Clean Energy And Diversification – Report
Saudi Arabia is set to embark on a $1 trillion investment drive across six strategic sectors by 2030, according to a report from Goldman Sachs Research. This ambitious plan, termed a “capex super-cycle,” will allocate approximately 73% of the investment to non-oil sectors, up from an earlier forecast of 66%. A significant portion of the investment, $235 billion, will be directed towards clean energy, a notable increase from the previous estimate of $148 billion. This funding boost is primarily aimed at scaling up renewable energy capacity, with Saudi Arabia now targeting 100-130 GW of solar power by 2030, up from an initial goal of 58.7 GW. The oil sector, however, will see a reduced share of the investment. A directive from the energy ministry indicates a $40 billion reduction in oil sector capex between 2024 and 2028. Despite this, natural gas remains crucial for Saudi Arabia’s decarbonization and economic diversification efforts. Investment in upstream oil and gas is now projected between $190-220 billion, down from $230-260 billion.
